Yesterday, the Studierendenwerk Hamburg awarded Georg Panzram book grants of between 1,000 and 1,500 euros each to seven single-parent students. Georg Panzram bequeathed his entire estate to the Studierendenwerk Hamburg; the resulting scholarship is awarded every two years and is a reminder of the donor's social commitment.
Established in 2004 by the Studierendenwerk Hamburg, the scholarship is aimed at single-parent students who are caring for at least one child, are enrolled at a Hamburg university and are in the final stages of their first degree.
Georg Panzram, who died in November 2002 at the age of 81, bequeathed his estate to the Studierendenwerk Hamburg in his will, which transferred this inheritance into a scholarship. Throughout his life, Georg Panzram donated part of his income to charitable organisations.
