Further measures in the area of ‘Education for sustainable development’

10. April 2025

We are switching to demonstrably sustainable cleaning products in our daycare centres. The products come from a family-run German company that conserves resources and works according to the principles of the circular economy.

In the educational work in our daycare centres, we place great emphasis on the area of ‘Education for Sustainable Development’. This should not only be reflected in the individual programmes for the children, but also in our own use of resources. In addition to switching to sustainable cleaning agents, there are many other measures that we have already taken: To reduce plastic waste, washable ‘wet bags’ are used for dirty laundry etc. instead of plastic bags. Before every purchase, we check whether it is necessary and whether it can be repaired. Items are exchanged or bought second-hand wherever possible. Sustainable materials and durable products are prioritised for new purchases in the daycare centres.

Each daycare centre group has at least one ‘Education for Sustainable Development’ project a year, such as designing a raised bed, a forest excursion, observing insects, the annual “Paper” project or ‘How do you make an apple?’

In our daycare centres, we provide a framework in which the children can engage with topics relevant to the future.
