On October 15, 2019, Studierendenwerk Hamburg awarded the Hamburg Stipendium for the second time and honored 22 students with a migration or refugee background for their special academic and personal skills. Senator Dr. Melanie Leonhard and Ian Karan, entrepreneur and former Senator for Economic Affairs, honored both the award-winning students and the idea of the Hamburg Stipendium and presented the scholarship certificates.

In sometimes touching contributions, some scholarship holders described their experiences and expectations and emphasized the importance of the scholarship not only for focusing on studies, but also for a supportive network, appreciation and integration.

The Hamburg Stipendium recipients are supported by Hapag Lloyd AG, Gasnetz Hamburg GmbH, STILL GmbH, Hamburger Sparkasse AG and Hamburger Abendblatt hilft e.V. this year.
