The Social Student Award - presented this year for the first time by the Studierendenwerk Hamburg - makes student volunteering visible and gives students recognition and appreciation for their commitment beyond their studies.
At the award ceremony on 11 July 2022, Social Senator Dr. Melanie Leonhard and Jürgen Allemeyer, Managing Director of Studierendenwerk Hamburg, honoured the award winners and their achievements. Three students/teams were awarded a total of 2,250 euros. The award also gives students the chance to draw attention to their projects and can also be an inspiration for other students.
The applications received reflect how multifaceted and important student volunteering is, from projects in the field of refugee work, human rights, legal advice, medicine, youth work in the rowing club or as a member of the volunteer fire brigade.
