To enroll at a university, students must prove that they have health and long-term care insurance. The proof in the form of an insurance certificate is issued by the health insurance company. Depending on previous insurance, age, marital status and the duration of studies, there are different insurance options:
You can find out more about this in our information sheet on health insurance during your studies.
The Unfallkasse Nord and the Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung provide information on accident insurance coverage for students. If you have an accident, it is important to inform your doctor that it is an accident and that you are a student. In addition, you must prepare an accident report and submit it immediately to your university (Student Secretariat).
Everyone needs private liability insurance. Why you should have such an insurance, which different possibilities of coverage there are and what you should pay attention to when concluding a contract, is answered in our info sheet private liability, which was created in cooperation with the consumer center Hamburg.
