Hamburg is Germany's second largest city and, as a metropolitan region with a total of 4.3 million inhabitants, has a lot to offer, not only for students: Big city flair on the Elbe and Alster, cultural events, parks and beach clubs - the list of highlights is endless.
There are currently 19 state and state-recognized universities in Hamburg, of which the University of Hamburg with the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Medical Faculty) is the largest and HafenCity University Hamburg the youngest university in Hamburg.
The universities in the Hanseatic City of Hamburg are different, both in terms of content and in their focus and profiles. Here you can find all the universities for which the Studierendenwerk Hamburg, partner of universities and students, is responsible:
The AStA (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss) is the central office for the enforcement of student interests, for student politics and represents Hamburg's students, among other things towards universities and the public.
We have compiled the AStA of the seven universities for which the Studierendenwerk Hamburg is responsible
University Sports and Studierendenwerk: two inter-university institutions that help shape campus life outside the lecture halls. Just as we take care of Food - Accommodation - Student Finance - Social & International Affairs and Daycare, University Sport moves clever minds!
With the SportsCard you can attend more than 200 courses in over 50 different sports! No matter if weekly sports course, weekend workshop, fitness in modern studios, sailing trip or skiing: There is something for every taste. Take advantage of the rich offer and do something for your health and communication or integration off campus. At the beginning of each semester and at the beginning of the semester break, the University Sports Department publishes a comprehensive program booklet, from which you can find all the offers and activities.
The program booklets are available at the Studierendenwerk and in most university institutions. Hamburg's university sportsmen and women pay special attention to water sports: whether dinghy, 470-sailing or dragon boating on the Outer Alster, canoeing and kayaking on Hamburg's canals, catamaran sailing, surfing and kiting on Fehmarn and the Baltic Sea... The offer is simply enormous! The area of competitive sports and tournaments has also been in great demand and expanded in recent years. In addition, there are numerous free courses for which women/men must register once.
Once you have found your course in the university sports program, simply register via hochschulsport-hamburg.de or with the registration cards in the program.
