Invitation to the iXNet Information Session “BARRIER-FREE ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Self-Employment as an Opportunity”

16. June 2026

People with chronic illnesses or disabilities who become self-employed create their own jobs that are tailored to their unique needs and capabilities. As your own boss, you can design a work environment that suits you. That is why self-employment is a great opportunity for many people with illnesses and disabilities—and often the only way for them to participate in the workforce.

When people with disabilities start a business, there are many issues to consider—in addition to the standard tasks involved in launching a business—to increase the likelihood of a stable, long-term venture.

Event details:

In this one-hour virtual event on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., experts Thomas Kotschenreuther and Marcus Bittner will provide an overview of

  • Prejudices and reality
  • The impact of disabilities on starting a business
  • Funding
  • Options for startup support
  • The first steps

Practical examples will also be featured.
The digital iXNet event will take place via Microsoft Teams.

The event is primarily aimed at people with disabilities who are about to graduate or are currently looking for work.

The “barrierefrei-gründen” initiative supports people with disabilities, those with long-term illnesses, and those currently in rehabilitation on their path to professional independence. The advisors have several years of experience in startup consulting for people with severe disabilities, including from their work on the “BESSER” project.
